October / November various upgrades to the house
1 Replace green netting with a trellis type structure. New "Megadrill" needed to fix wood vertical "pillars" into the concrete house pillars. After that simply fix the wood.
2 Washing machine purchase
Partially empty the kitchen to make room.
Also electric supply / water feed / waste water disposal
Machine stood on concrete "breeze blocks" to raise it up to assist with drainage
3 Build a bed... a long job as all the wood needed to be cut and planed on all 4 sides for the frame
Then teak wood cut trimmed and planed to make sure it was square so the slats fit together with no gaps
4 Replace the clumsy mosquito curtains
Each of these curtains covered 3 windows but individual frames better but one needed for each window.
Each frame a bit like secondary double glazing and picture framing.
So a double sided frame with the window side using light cheapish wood, but the inward facing frame made of better quality hardwood..
Thus the two sides of the frame being slightly different sizes as the inward facing sided 1cm bigger all round to provide a lip.
The mosquito wire mesh being sandwiched between the inner and outer parts of the structure.
Then hung on hinges one side with magnetic catches the other.
Finally 2 corner braces on the hinged side fashioned by beating flat metal water pipe "brackets"
3 such items for Chanatips bedroom
5 in our room Plus a double window.
Variation in that it is too wide for hinges to support so change the corners slightly and use picture fixings to hang it from the top frame. Again use magnetic catches on both sides and the bottom so the mossies cannot get in.
We do not use this window much but it is easy enough to lift the hooks off the screws as they are not driven in 100%
