Quiet on the "Blog" front but quite busy ! New pair of glasses ..which I managed to break but expecting a full refund from Travel insurance. Lots of tidying and 1 new table made from wood left over. A second table made by taking apart a rather rickety table and using the planks again for the table top. "O Level" woodwork skills to the fore ! In the slide show we also have additional plumbing. Our well is dry again but the local council are providing water maybe within a week.
Next weekend we house our "New House Celebration" 7 Monks come on Saturday afternoon and again evening to pray and chant. A further visit on Sunday to complete the religious bit and also we invite many locals for Food and Beer and Rum ! Then

Whilst in Australia we bought a heavy cast-iron Camp oven (OZ and NZ), usually called a "dutch oven" in UK. We will take this to UK for use whilst camping. It is best used in the embers of a fire and also putting hot embers on the lid (thus creating a proper oven). The things to look out for are 1 Not too much heat underneath 2 Not to cook too long remembering it retains heat for some time after removing fron the firepit. First real succeas a "bread and butter pudding". Next meal proper roast chicken with roast potatoes !. Scam ! A UK based Flight company "Cheapoair.co.uk" appear to have stolen £1127.77 from my Lloyds account.
Bank has been contacted and they implied they would re-fund. The usual questions regarding use of the card etc. A new card is on its way. I know I look for bargain flights but I would not use a company with such a "tacky" name. I have checked their website and it appears a legi company with telephone no which matches the 0203 514 digits linked to the transaction We flew back on Tuesday 15th..only a 6hr flight. Major traffic congestion in Bangkok it took us 2 hrs to get to our Hotel !
Still all well Train to Uttaradit on Wednesday Gardening etc on Thu and Fri but now all looking good. Big shopping yesterday. Lights and baubles now in place. Weather good Hot during the day but quite cool at night. See Australia page for more on the trip. Firstly my thoughts are with the French people after the horrendous terrorist attacks over the weekend ! No "potted philosophy" on how to solve the ongoing problems ! Here a very good week (but trivial in relation to the above) Having bought an extra display unit we have finally unpacked and put out the last big box of ornaments, trinkets and the like. So (for Katrina, Dawn and Mick)...ONLY 2 small cardboard boxes left one with Xmas decorations the other with lighting stuff (inc Xmas) In amongst the items I found my "Desborough Staff Cricket trophy" awarded in 1997 by Wayne (Stewart). Lots of other items from my "Exodus tours" and trips with Nida. House now very tidy and well organised. Music available via a hard disk attached to the TV or our small record player. Crockery and glassware from UK all available for use including our wedding presents. Most items kept behind glass as it does get very dusty here ! Off to Bangkok on Tuesday ! Fly to Perth Wednesday/Thursday (a new blog will appear...lucky people !) Lots of admin. Car tax (£30) Motorcycle tax (£10). Train tickets for Bangkok (next week £20).
Get cash and check bank statement. 2 x 45kg bags of Sticky rice for Nida's parents (£45).. Sticky rice is more expensive than Jasmine but they prefer it. This will last them about 3 months and it costs much less to buy this way. We take Nida's father to a Clinic in Phrae every month to get pills and have an injection.
Quite a nice drive about 1.5 hrs. Phrae also has a "B&Q" DIY store where we get some odds and ends. In Den Chai they make furniture so we bought a display cabinet to house items which were still in a box. Transported it home. Tuesday am fitted all the glass panels. The unit is hexagonal so 6 glass panels for the lowest tier and 18 more for the 3 upper tiers More house cleaning polishing.
Some of the furniture was looking a bit dry ! We brought pollsh and renovation liquids from UK. Now all good. Asian (Clark style) pork burgers for dinner. Minced pork, finely chopped onions shallot and garlic. coriander and pork oxo, egg and ground porridge oats for bulk. Very good. Also homemade flat bread.. Flour x 3 Semolina x1 Ground porridge oats x1 Yeast sugar etc Water. Add oil when dough nearly ready. Leave to rise. Take some of the dough (tennis ball) and flatten, Cook on a low heat ! House location above.
Also checking the Blog puts latest dates first Usual Thursday afternoon visit to here.
